Photo: Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>by Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Anyone interested in learning about the intrinsic aspects of the universe?<\/p>\n<p>An interactive display to discover, to learn and to imagine what the sun, earth have was unveiled on Monday, Jan. 28 at the museum located at Dean Porter Park.<\/p>\n<p>A group of students from Yturria Elementary assisted Felipe Pe\u00f1a in a ribbon cutting during a brief presentation of the display that will be permanently on board at least for the first year. Pe\u00f1a is the museum\u2019s executive director.<\/p>\n<p>He said the exhibit came out thanks to a $90,000 grant from the National Informal Stem Science Education Network.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We are going to keep it here for a year and will lend it to other museums after that,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s an interactive exhibit and children can built models of satellites and experience how planets and the universe are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During the grand opening, some students were given headphones and a keyboard as they wandered around while putting on astronaut outfits.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_9800\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9800\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9800\" src=\"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_3423.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"423\" srcset=\"https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_3423.jpg 600w, https:\/\/losfresnosnews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_3423-300x212.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-9800\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Students interacting after the exhibit opened. Photo: Tony Vindell\/LFN<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Carol Lutsinger, who works in a science program with the Brownsville school district, told the students and a small crowd attending the event about how technology has been changing things today.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLook up at the night sky,\u201d she said, \u201cand dream big.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pe\u00f1a said they would like to invite students from all over South Texas and from the Rio Grande Valley school districts to visit the museum so they can learn about the world around them.<\/p>\n<p>The museum opens from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>For more information please call 956-548-9300 or go to <a href=\"http:\/\/cmofbrownsville.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cmofbrownsville.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Tony Vindell\/LFN Anyone interested in learning about the intrinsic aspects of the universe?
