Harvest Time Fun at Resaca Middle School
- Updated: May 5, 2017
RMS Gardening Club Enjoys Fruits of Their Labor
Resaca Middle School’s Gardening club is an after school club that promotes gardening and healthy eating habits. The club meets every Wednesday from 4:00-5:30 and is directed by 7th & 8th-grade science teacher Christopher Martinez.
The goal of the club is to provide students with the experience of growing their own fruits and vegetables.
“Some of our students are already avid gardeners” said Martinez.
“They get to harvest the vegetables… we even made a salsa once from what we picked from the garden” Martinez added.
The students were all smiles and very excited as they searched through their garden for produce ready to be harvested. Mr. Martinez answered student questions and provided informative tips about the individual plants.
The RMS Gardening Club also welcomes donations to further the club’s goals. Kudos to Mr. Martinez and RMS for such efforts and for teaching that harvest time can be FUN!
