Brownsville’s El Pollo Loco goes crazy about Conjunto Halcon.

The restaurant held a fundraising in which 50 percent of its sales went to Los Fresnos school district conjunto program.

The fundraising was in effect from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday, April, 23.

Parents, friends and staff with the school district showed support for the good cause showing a flyer to let the restaurant employees know why they were there.

“We are here to show support,” Melizza Garcia, a teacher at Los Fresnos United, said. “The school has a good program and we hope it continues like that.”

Cristina Cavazos, also a United teacher, said Conjunto Halcon has done a super job and she wishes them the best for years to come.

Juan Longoria, the program director, said the program’s booster club organized the fundraising.

“They hold several each year,” he said. “But this is the first time they chose El Pollo Loco.”

Longoria said the proceeds from the fundraising will go to help to defray the cost of their end of the year trip.

He said the 100 or so students in the program will go to New Braunfels and San Antonio for a two-day trip in May.
