More than a 100 students from Los Fresnos High School Class of 2019 attended a service in which religious leaders from throughout the community stood by the side of some of the graduates.
The service was held Wednesday, May 8 at the school auditorium.
Parents, relatives, chamber of commerce and business representatives and members of Los Fresnos Rotary Club attended the ceremony.
“We did it!,” “Way to Go!,”and “Falcon Pride,” were among the phrases repeatedly said by the students who were instructed to show up in full graduation gear.
Enrique Valencia addressed his fellow students, saying this was a special occasion that marks the start of another chapter.
“It’s not easy to say good bye,” he said, “but it’s time to acknowledge that we did it and to receive a blessing from our alma mater.”
Emma Stambaugh and Tyler Leal also welcomed the students and their parents.
Chris Rivera told graduates they are barely eighteen years of age and ready to start a new life.
“Thank your parents for your patience,” he said. “We will be victorious!”
The ceremony is held every year before commencement day, scheduled to be held Saturday, May 25 at the Leo Aguilar Stadium.
About 900 students belong to the LFHS Class of 2019.
