Dr. Diana Delinda Ruiz Receives UTRGV Outstanding Alumnus Award

The UTRGV Brownsville Counseling Student Association & the Edinburg Counseling Student Association spring graduates awarded Dr. Diana Delinda Ruiz with the Emmette R. Hutto Outstanding Alumnus Award at the 2019 Hooding Ceremony on May 4, 2019 for her commitment and contributions to the counseling profession.
Dr. Ruiz is currently an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Counseling at the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley. Ruiz has completed her 11th year teaching at the university level and is a Certified School Counselor and a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology.
Dr. Ruiz was the proud recipient of the Outstanding New Faculty Teaching Award for the UTPA-College of Education in 2013. She is a trained Make-a-Wish Granter, and is currently the Chair for the UTRGV Department of Counseling Advisory Committee.
DeeDee, a Los Fresnos native, daughter of Dr. Eliseo and Dora Ruiz graduated with her B.S. in Early Childhood Education from UT-Austin, her M.Ed in Guidance and Counseling from UT-Brownsville, and her Ph.D. in School Psychology from Texas Woman’s University.
