City Manager Mark Milum has received a satisfactory evaluation by Los Fresnos City Council and will stay on the job if he wishes to do so.
The council met in executive session during the Tuesday, Jan. 14 meeting of the council and about an hour later Mayor Narvaez said the council had a favorable evaluation of Milum’s job as the city’s administrator.
“We all agreed he has been doing a great job with the city,” he said in announcing the result of the closed-door meeting. “We would like to continue working with him if he is willing to work with us.”
Milum completed his 15th year as city manager on Nov. 19 and he is now starting on his 16th, managing a city of some 60 employees and a budget of more than $8.1 million.
Under his tenure, the city has not raised its property taxes which stands at 71.5 cents for every $100 of assessed valuation.
Before the council met to discuss Milum’s job, two local residents voiced their support for the city manager, saying he has been doing a great job.
They were Darlene Pederson and Manuel Abrego, both of whom credited Milum for the good things going on and happening in Los Fresnos today.
The council also heard a presentation from Val Champion, the executive director of the local chamber of commerce.
