Being a member of the Los Fresnos business community has its perks.

But that does not come automatically as it requires some upgrading; like improving the look of a storefront, putting up new and better signs, and making landscaping more attractive to their potential customers.

So the local Community Development Corporation (CDC) has come up with a new plan that provides more incentives to those willing to make the city a better place for everybody.

The pro-business organization board of directors approved at its Monday, Sept. 14, meeting, to increase its grant amounts for businesses interested in applying for any of three packages CDC has for upgrading a business.
According to one of its policies, CDC provides a 50-percent matching grant of a project’s cost.

Under a change approved at the meeting, CDC increased its amount in three categories.

For business signs, it went from $2,500 to $3,750.

A second one applies to stores fronts, going from $5,000 to $7,500.

And a third is for landscaping, which rose from $2,500 to $3,570.

The $2,500 and $5,000 figures are the maximum amounts a business owner can apply for. In turn, CDC will match up to 50 percent of the cost.

So now is the time for members of the business community to apply for a CDC grant.
