The Los Fresnos boys basketball team has a lot to live up to. Last year’s squad competed in the Region 4 Semi-Finals. That team boasted 4 senior starters. This year’s team is looking to carry the banner without missing a step.
Early signs are good. The first game of the season was a very competitive one. The Falcons came out ahead 62-51 against Economedes. The player of the game was Gerry Martinez with a statline of 19 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals.
Game 2 Tuesday Nov 17 was a dominating effort by Los Fresnos versus Weslaco East. The first quarter was back and forth and actually ended with the Falcons down 12-13. But early in the second quarter the Falcons took the lead on an impressive put-back by #10 Darius Garcia. That sparked the Falcons to out-score the Wildcats 22 to 3 in the second quarter.
The Falcons never looked back after that. Posting a final score of 70 to 42 over Weslaco East. Player of the game honors went to Roger Capetillo with 19 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks and 1 steal.
Los Fresnos now puts it’s 2-0 record on the line against Edcouch-Elsa and PSJA.
