Given the challenges of 2020 it is very important to keep the magic alive this holiday season for the children and families of Los Fresnos and surrounding communities.

We want to be able to safely continue with what has become such a meaningful tradition in our community, the Los Fresnos Christmas Parade.

The City of Los Fresnos, Los Fresnos Community Development Corporation, Los Fresnos Rodeo Committee, Los Fresnos C.I.S.D., and the Los Fresnos Chamber of Commerce have re-envisioned the Los Fresnos Christmas Parade in a manner that will provide an opportunity for the residents of Los Fresnos and surrounding communities to enjoy the event without having to worry about social distancing and crowds.

Our Reverse (drive-thru) Christmas Parade will begin at 5:30 in the afternoon of Saturday, December 12, 2020 at the Rodeo Grounds. Attendees will drive their vehicles through a parade route that will be complete with static floats, bands, drill and dance teams, live nativity displays, music, elves, free tamales, and even a visit from Santa Claus!

The organizing committee is asking people driving through to join in the fun by decorating their cars and trucks in a festive manner.

The committee is encouraging attendees to bring donations for the Los Fresnos Food Bank. Drivers will be able to hand their donations through their vehicle window to Food Bank collectors at the end of the Parade.

During the month of December, the City of Los Fresnos, in various ways, will display support for our Law Enforcement. At the Parade there will also be a “Support Our Law Enforcement” poster contest. Each vehicle will be encouraged to create and bring a poster recognizing/honoring/thanking our Law Enforcement for their service. Please write your name, cell number, and email on the back of the poster. Prizes will be awarded for the winning posters in two categories, adult and juvenile. Drivers will be able to hand their posters through their vehicle window to PD collectors at the end of the Parade.

Also, at the end of the Parade route the first 500 vehicles will receive a dozen tamales free, and Santa Claus will be waving and wishing everyone a Safe, Happy, and Merry Christmas as vehicles drive out of the Parade route and leave.

We hope that by offering this type of Parade we can keep the magic for this holiday season for the children and families of Los Fresnos and surrounding communities.

The Chamber of Commerce is now accepting Parade entries. Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Businesses, organizations, churches, schools, athletic teams, public officials, cars, trucks, motorcycles, and farm implements are welcome. The Chamber is located at 520 East Ocean Boulevard and can be contacted at [email protected] and at 956-233-4488.
