City Manager Mark Milum addresses the attendees at the Chamber of Commerce general meeting about the recent new businesses coming to town.
The Los Fresnos Chamber of Commerce General Meeting held three Guest speakers. The first was the LFCISD Migrant program, Ms. Ida Vasquez. Ms. Vasquez explained a bit about what the program is about and what it does. She also explained how the program helps many of our students and families benefit from the program. The Second guest speaker was City Manager Mark Milum in informed the Chamber attendees on the changes and updates taking place in Los Fresnos. He also mentioned the negotiations between the City and Churches Fried Chicken. Although the franchise has not committed on paper to date, Mark is certain they will be signing on. Mr. Milum also gave updates to when McDonalds anticipated tobegin on construction. Some in attendance had concerns of Tax increases because of the Changes happening to our community. Mr. Milum informed those concerned that they did not need to worry about tax increases because of the Cities growth. The last Speaker was Sergio Torres of Pioneer Green Energy . Mr. Torres informed those in attendance what the company does and how the company believes it will grow in the Los Fresnos, Bayview and Laguna Vista area bringing additional jobs to these areas. Pioneer Green Energy is a company that harnessesthe wind with wind mills, creating natural clean energy. The next General meeting will be held at the Wells Fargo Bank on June 25th at 12:00 noon.The Chamber is taking meetings to places of business for the summer.
