Maya’s Love: Empowering Communities

Los Fresnosl, TX. — A San Antonio-based non-profit organization, Maya’s Love, is touching the lives of countless children and communities in the area. Founder and CEO, Maira Carrier shares, “Our mission at Maya’s Love is to provide a symbol of care for any child who is experiencing emotional trauma through resource-filled events and personalized care packages. We provide multiple educational opportunities that allow for community empowerment.”


The organization based in San Antonio and extending its support to Uvalde and the Rio Grande Valley.
Maya’s Love, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, was officially established in May 2021. Mrs. Carrier’s journey of giving back to communities started during her time in the Army when she began sending care packages to children worldwide. Her love and empathy for her hometown, the Rio Grande Valley, inspired her to create a non-profit that would bring change and support to the community that shaped her.

The organization’s mission is to provide care and support for children experiencing emotional trauma through resource-filled events and personalized care packages. Maya’s Love also focuses on providing various educational opportunities to empower the communities it serves, fostering a brighter future for the young minds.


One of the remarkable endeavors by Maya’s Love was its support for Las Palmas Housing, a community that holds special significance for Maira Carrier. Over the years, the organization has organized Back to School Shoe Drives, Holiday Parades, and other events that spread love and joy throughout the neighborhood where Mrs. Carrier spent her childhood.


In an awards ceremony held at the Los Fresnos City Hall, Maya’s Love recognized the dedication and selfless service of its volunteers, honoring them with the prestigious Presidential Volunteer Service Award. This award celebrates individuals whose contributions positively impact communities and inspire others to follow suit. Additionally, the ceremony saw the inaugural presentation of the Maya’s Love Kindness Award, established in memory of Alithia Haven Ramirez, a student tragically lost in the Uvalde shooting.

The Kindness Award aims to recognize individuals who display exemplary acts of kindness in their communities, inspiring positive change.

Recently, on July 15th, Maya’s Love organized a Back to School Kickball Tournament at Los Fresnos City Park. This event was a collaborative effort, involving local businesses, organizations, students, and community leaders who came together to raise funds and collect essential items for vulnerable students returning to school. The tournament saw teams such as Stephanie’s Cheesecake’s Sweet Rollers, Horizon Jiu Jitsu, Divine CrossFit Los Fresnos, The Los Fresnos Little League, Los Guerreros, The Benchwarmers, and New Kicks On the Block competing passionately for a noble cause; childrens mental health.


Maya’s Love continues to be driven by the love it holds for the communities it serves and the limitless potential of the children within these communities. The organization’s efforts have brought hope, joy, and support to countless lives, leaving a positive and lasting impact on the regions it reaches.


As Maira Alejandra Carrier and the team at Maya’s Love continue to spread kindness and compassion, their work serves as an inspiration to all, encouraging others to join the mission of building a brighter and more caring future for children and communities in need.
