Last week, the Los Fresnos CISD Superintendent Advisory Council had the opportunity to tour the facilities currently under construction at Los Fresnos CISD. These new spaces are designed to support the growth and success of our students, faculty, and community. During the tour, students explored the Performing Arts Center, CTE Center, Agriculture and Manual Trade Shops, and Culinary Arts Bistro.
This project underscores Los Fresnos CISD’s commitment to growth and progress as we expand these essential facilities. Witnessing these buildings transform from an empty field into nearly completed structures is exciting. This expansion will give our students ample space and the right tools to succeed in their education and careers.
We would also like to thank the Los Fresnos CISD Special Services class. Mrs. Thomas’s class has been diligently working on the campus garden, where the students learn the importance of gardening and the various steps necessary to maintain a successful garden. Their dedication is evident as they recently planted and cultivated some beautiful fresh rosemary, which they then prepared for freezing to use as seasoning.
The campus garden is a valuable educational tool. It teaches students the significance of growing their own food and the hard work required to maintain a garden. They learn about planting and the importance of soil quality, proper watering, and ensuring adequate sunlight for growth.
After all their hard work, the students are rewarded with the fruits of their labor when it’s time to harvest. Nothing is quite like the satisfaction of seeing, feeling, and enjoying what you have grown. This process helps them understand how farmers bring produce from farm to table nationwide.
These students should be proud of their accomplishments, and we look forward to seeing what they grow next!
