Alan Atherton Resigns Post on Commission
- Updated: August 23, 2013
Councilman will Remain on Duty Until Successful November Candidate is Elected
The Los Fresnos City Council reluctantly accepted the resignation of Commissioner Alan Atherton after eight years of service to the community at their recent meeting held Tuesday, August 13.
“I want to thank everyone for letting me serve the city and I respectfully submit my resignation in order to take an opportunity with Coldwell Banker Real Estate on the island. I am so honored to work with all the staff and everyone on the council through the years. I would like to continue to serve until the election,” commented Atherton.
Atherton will continue to reside in Los Fresnos and the council approved his request to hold his position until a replacement is elected.
All the commissioners expressed their appreciation of Atherton’s work and Mayor Polo Narvaez said, “Thank you for all you have done for our community, hopefully we can find someone to fill your shoes and thank you for serving until the election”. The General Election will be held November 5, 2013.
Commissioner Yolanda Cruz volunteered to serve in Atherton’s place on the Brownsville MPO Commitee.
