Annual Christmas Parade and Park Celebration Shared “The Spirit of Christmas”

On December 14th the Los Fresnos Chamber of Commerce and the City of Los Fresnos held their Annual Christmas Parade and Park celebration. The Parade began at 5:30 p.m. right about when a Northern front blew in. It also blew in a few new comers to the parade.

New Chamber business members took the parade opportunity to promote their businesses and to their surprise placed as parade winners.

There were a total of 45 entries, Changes were made to the parade rules this year.Participants were asked to arrive earlier for staging before the Line kicked off. This gave the judges time to review the entries and see dance choreographies, float details and keep the parade flowing with little gaps as possible.

Winners were as follows: Dancing Category 1st place went to Dora Romero Elementary, 2nd place went to Palmer Laakso Elementary and 3rd place to Keller Elementary. Marching: 1st Place Resaca Middle School Band 2nd place Rancho Verde Rattlerettes 3rd place Los Cuates Band in Walking : 1st place went to McDonalds 2nd place went to the skaters of Los Fresnos Park and 3rd to Los Cuates Middle School Cheerleaders. In the Float category: 1st place Las Yescas Elementary, 2nd Los Fresnos Flag Football and 3rd place Los Fresnos Rodeo Committee.

The Los Fresnos Chamber of Commerce would like to Thank the Friends of the Chamber such as Pana Scott, Antonio Rivas, Mayor Polo Narvaez & First Lady Carlotta Narvaez. The Business Chamber Members such as Holiday Out RV Park, Subway, Los Fresnos Rodeo Committee, Carniceria Perez, Las Compana’s, The Flower Gallery, Shaila’s Boutique. The Park Celebration Corporate Sponsors were Los Fresnos Dental Center – office of Dr. Adam Lalonde, Pederson Construction, City of Los Fresnos,Community Devlopment Corporation, Los Fresnos CISD and the Los Fresnos chamber of Commerce. All of which contributed to the purchase of candy, free rides, entertainment and the Merry in “Merry Christmas”.

The park celebration went on in the cold, making it feel that much more like Christmas and was MC’d by Reverend Rick De La Rosa of Rio Life Christian Center, who this year received the award for the most active non-profit organization. The Park entertainment and school club orchestration was led by Manuel Almanza, who also received the annual Dora Romero award this year. The Chamber would like to thank the HOSA Club and the Migrant Student Education Program all of which provided to the theme “The Spirit of Christmas” by providing volunteer time.
