It is time to pull out that western gear and prepare for the 25th Silver Anniversary edition of the Los Fresnos PRCA Rodeo to be held at the Los Fresnos rodeo grounds from Jan. 31-Feb. 2. The Cameron County Fair and Livestock Show will be held in conjunction with the big event.
Participants for the PRCA Rodeo Parade set for Saturday, February 1 need to register now and begin planning their costumes and decorations with the “Silver Anniversary” theme in mind. The parade starts at 11 a.m. on Highway 100 from Brazil Street down to the rodeo grounds. Awards are given from 1-3rd places in each category including float, marching/walking and equestrian. Participants are to line-up in front of the city hall area by 10 a.m. for judging. Rodeo performances will be held daily from Jan. 31- Feb. 2 at the rodeo grounds in Los Fresnos. Other attractions at the same location include the county fair and stock show, carnival, food and merchandise vendors, and lots of live musical entertainment. Since its beginning in 1989, The Los Fresnos PRCA Rodeo has grown to be the Biggest Little Rodeo in Texas! A small group of forward thinking individuals got together with a dream for the community. The current Los Fresnos Rodeo Committee Directors include: Mike Todd, Chairman, 25 years; George Gomez, Vice-Chairman, 25 years; Carl Macomb, Treasurer, 25 years; Dwight Chaffin, Secretary, 22 years; and Directors, Carlos Salazar, 25 years; John Cardoza, 24 years; Larry Cantu, 21 years; Mark Milum, 21 years; Jerry Reed, Bill McCormick, Noël Lopez, Jimmy Goss, Jim Moses, Jeff Crow, Agustin Lopez Jr., Juan Garcia, Mike Meyn Jr. Daniel Zurita, Wesley Milum, Milan Jirmasek, Ron Bowen, Burney Basket, James Harris, Herlee Cherrington, and Henry Juarez.
Mark Chesnutt is one of Country’s true musical treasures and he will be headlining the entertainment Saturday night. Critics have hailed him as a classic Country singer of the first order and some of Country music’s most elite entertainers, from George Jones to George Strait, echo the sentiment.
Mark Chesnutt’s stature is easily gauged. He has 14 No. 1 hits, 23 top ten singles, four platinum albums and five gold records to his credit; he maintains a front-and-center presence with a hefty tour schedule year after year.
Craig Campbell will also be live in concert on Saturday night Feb. 1. His smash hit “Outta my Head” rocked the charts, and he is ready to rock the Los Fresnos Rodeo Arena.
Grupo Immposible will be on stage immediately following the Friday night rodeo.
