Resaca Students Participate in EMBH Science Camp
- Updated: December 1, 2014
Resaca Middle School students Kaitlin Mata and Edward Maciel were selected to participate in the 2014 ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Science Camp held at The University of Texas-Pan American.
This organization provided activities, experiments, projects, and field experiences for students entering 6th, 7th and 8th grade. The camp also promoted science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education.
Out of several hundred applications, only 45 students were selected to attend the free two-week program academic residential camp emphasizing mathematics and science skills while introducing them to college life and stimulating their interest in science and engineering as a potential career path.
Campers were required to complete a minimum of 54 hours of advanced STEM study taught by highly qualified educators. The foundation sponsored up 20 camps held across the nation between June and August.
