It is time to pull out that western gear and prepare for the 26th Annual edition of the Los Fresnos PRCA Rodeo to be held at the Los Fresnos rodeo grounds from Feb.6 – Feb. 8. The Cameron County Fair and Livestock Show will be held in conjunction with the big event.
Participants for the PRCA Rodeo Parade set for Saturday, February 7 need to register now and begin planning their costumes and decorations with the “Hats off to the American Farmer” theme in mind. The parade starts at 11 a.m. on Highway 100 from Brazil Street down to the rodeo grounds. Awards are given from 1-3rd places in each category including float, marching/walking and equestrian. Participants are to line-up in front of the city hall area by 10 a.m. for judging. Rodeo performances will be held daily from Feb. 6 – Feb. 8 at the rodeo grounds in Los Fresnos. Other attractions at the same location include the county fair and stock show, carnival, food and merchandise vendors, and live musical entertainment. Since its beginning in 1989, The Los Fresnos PRCA Rodeo has grown to be the Biggest Little Rodeo in Texas! A small group of forward thinking individuals got together with a dream for the community. The current Los Fresnos Rodeo Committee Directors include: Mike Todd, Chairman, 26 years; George Gomez, Vice-Chairman, 26 years; Carl Macomb, Treasurer, 26 years; Dwight Chaffin, Secretary, 23 years; and Directors, Carlos Salazar, 26 years; John Cardoza, 26 years; Larry Cantu, 22 years; Mark Milum, 22 years; Jerry Reed, Bill McCormick, Noël Lopez, Jimmy Goss, Jim Moses, Jeff Crow, Agustin Lopez Jr., Juan Garcia, Mike Meyn Jr., Daniel Zurita, Wesley Milum, Milan Jirmasek, Ron Bowen, James Harris, Enrique Juarez, Herlee Cherrington, and Tyson Zufelt.
The Josh Abbott Band will be headlining the entertainment Saturday night. The Josh Abbott Band is ready to rock the Los Fresnos Rodeo Arena.
Josh Abbott Band is a Warner Music Nashville recording artist hailing from Lubbock, Texas that was formed in 2006. Josh’s love for Texas has permeated every aspect of his songwriting, weaving authentic character-driven tales while exploring real-life issues that have shaped the Lone Star State.
