The RGV LEAD Student Ambassadors from Los Fresnos High School; Audrey Urbis, Javier Espinoza, Kelsi McDonough and Brianna Garcia, were present to speak to attendees at the Los Fresnos Chamber of Commerce monthly meeting on March 24, 2015 about the partnership between education and business to prepare young people for today’s workforce. The local chapter of student ambassadors formed the club to help promote a college and career focused culture at Los Fresnos High School and to help spread awareness of PSAT, ACT & SAT preparations. Among the events sponsored by the club at LFHS are summer internships which will connect students to local businesses to identify potential internship opportunities. “Internships help us not waste time spending four years studying in a field and not gain the type of experience we can get in the real world” said Urbis. Internships, various summer camps and community service opportunities coupled with their college studies will help students be ahead of the game.
