Another Succesful Effort For The Los Fresnos Community Food Pantry Fundraiser
- Updated: June 12, 2015
Once again the efforts paid off for Denny’s Restaurant, LFCISD and the Leo Aguilar Foundation in helping to replenish the local food pantry before the upcoming busy summer.
“The following are some of the stats, please work your magic and let others know what the “Good People” in our area did” stated Joe Aguilar regarding the results of the event.
The event was held on May 11 and 12, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. each day. The biggest heroes were the wait staff at Denny”s Restaurant on Parades Line Road. The wait staff donated all of their tips to the Pantry and Mr. Peter Calvillo asked the owners of Ace Eateries (Charlie Lopez and Debra Britton) to participate by donating 15% of the store’s revenue to the Pantry. As a result, a total of $750.00 in cash was collected for both days.
Some private donors also donated a combined total of $850.00.
Mrs. Zebede Conde with the local Wells Fargo Bank, collected over 100 food pantry items that were donated to the Pantry.
Thanks were extended also to Juan Lozano and his team at Texas Parks and Wildlife, than to Juan and his team the food pantry will enjoy hundreds of pounds of fresh fish straight from our very own bay for the next few weeks.
Assisting by shadowing the Denny’s wait staff were our very own students from various clubs at Los Fresnos High School. We had over 30 students each day helping us.
Denny’s Restaurant, LFCISD and the Leo Aguilar Foundation wish to thank all involved in making the event a huge success.
