Los Fresnos celebrated 239 years of American freedom at this year’s Independence Day celebration.
Held Saturday, July 4, the celebration began at city hall with the local Boys and Girls Scouts leading a small parade down Arroyo Blvd. The parade had a Los Fresnos Police Department escort and the patrol car’s regular siren was replaced by “The Star-Spangled Banner”, the national anthem.
Los Fresnos residents displayed their patriotism by standing outside their homes and saluting the many American flags flying proudly. Once the parade reached Memorial Park, the whole community came together to enjoy themselves at a public picnic that also featured inflatables for the children, an open swimming pool, food, drinks, and a full performance by the Highway 100 Band.
There were many activities for people of all ages. The park was full of people well into the evening making this year’s celebration a great community success.
The celebration ended at the Los Fresnos Rodeo Grounds with a spectacular fireworks display that was grandiose enough for the whole town to see. The city would like to thank all our community members for helping them celebrate American independence at this year’s annual Independence Day celebration.
