Los Fresnos CISD Welcomes 57 to New Teacher Academy

Fifty-seven teachers new to Los Fresnos CISD – including 36 first-year teachers – are going through New Teacher Academy.
The 36 first-year teachers are met for three days Aug. 12-14, while experienced teachers new to the district met only ono Aug. 14.
All Los Fresnos CISD teachers reported for work Aug. 17.
The New Teacher Academy was conducted by the Office of Academics. Curriculum coordinators and strategists worked with the first-year teachers for the first two days on the following topics: Effective Teacher Characteristics; Room, Lessons, Plan for Day 1; Professional and Legal Issues; Styles and Personalities; Working with a Mentor; Classroom Management: Time, Space, Materials, and Behavior; Working with Parents.
All teachers new to the district also received training Aug. 14 on Texas Teacher Evaluation Training (TTESS), maintaining web pages, curriculum server resources, Euphoria, Gradebook, Employee Access Center, PD 360, and email.
