- Updated: September 11, 2015
Olmito Elementary Physical Education teacher Julio Araiza has been named a recipient of the Coordinated Approach to Child Health (CATCH) Texas Champion for 2015.
Araiza is in his 10th year teaching in the Los Fresnos CISD. His first nine years were at Lopez-Riggins Elementary, seven and a half years of which were as a PE teacher. This is his first year at OES.
Araiza will be recognized at the 11th Annual CATCH Texas Champion Awards reception Dec. 3 in Dallas. Six state champions will be presented with the 2015 CATCH Champions Award.
Los Fresnos CISD adopted the CATCH program at several schools in 2014. CATCH is a proven program to prevent childhood obesity and launch kids and communities toward healthier lifestyles. Using CATCH ensures that schools are doing the most that they can for the health of their students.
