3rd Annual Boots On Ground Mud Run
- Updated: December 4, 2015
Los Fresnos’ 3rd Annual Boots on Grounds Veterans Endurance Mud Run kicked off on Saturday, November 21, 2015 and turned out to be another fun and great event. The four mile obstacle mud run was created to commemorate military veterans that have gone before us as well as those working and living among us who have sacrificed their family time, careers and health so that millions of Americans can enjoy the freedom we do today. Proceeds raised from this annual mud run go to fund a Veterans Memorial which is planned to be built at the same time as a new city hall building sometime in the future. The memorial is being designed by architects Gomez, Mendez, & Saenz, Inc. Once the memorial is built the mud run organization will re-organize as a 501C non profit entity so that future funds raised from the mud run will go to benefit organizations such as Wounded Warriors and/or others.

The event saw a change of location from it’s original home at the rodeo grounds. This year the mud run was held on the property next to Bobz World at 36451 State Hwy 100. Mr. Bob Harris of Bobz World permitted the mud run be held on the property. “The site was more accessible” said councilman Javier Mendez describing the new venue. “We received very positive feedback” Mendez continued, explaining how some made comparisons of the mud run to nationally recognized events such as Spartan and Tough Mudder runs.

New to Boots on Ground this year was the Kid’s Run.
The 3rd annual Boots on Ground event hosted 411 adult registrants who participated in the mud run and 32 child registrants participating in the kids run. A special thank you goes out to all who participated, to all volunteers, committee members and coordinators that made the event possible.
