Spellane, Olvera Perez Named District Teachers of the Year

Corine Spellane of Liberty Memorial Middle School and Yvette Olvera Perez of Las Yescas Elementary were honored as Secondary and Elementary Teachers of the Year, respectively, at the Employee Awards Banquet Thursday, May 26th at Los Fresnos United Cafeteria.
The ceremony recognized the campus Teachers of the Year, Los Fresnos High School Top 10 students and their Bell Award recipients, Paraprofessional and Manual Trades Employees of the Year, retirees, and employees reaching 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 45 years of service.
A 32-minute video presentation that included interviews with each campus Teacher of the Year was shown.
Following the video, each campus Teacher of the Year was presented with an award before the announcement of Spellane and Olvera Perez.
Campus Teachers of the Year included: Los Fresnos High School: Tessah Zepeda; Los Fresnos United Ninth Grade Campus: Daniel Cranick; DAEP/AMI: Elisa Zuniga; Liberty Memorial Middle School: Corine Spellane; Los Cuates Middle School: Gracie Ann Rubio; Resaca Middle School: Rafael Rodriguez; Las Yescas Elementary: Yvette Olvera Perez; Laureles Elementary: Angela Dunkin; Lopez-Riggins Elementary: Amalia Jimenez; Los Fresnos Elementary: Jessica Alaniz; Olmito Elementary: Ida Garcia; Palmer-Laakso Elementary: Yolanda Soliz; Rancho Verde Elementary: Margaret Trinidad; Dora Romero Elementary: Sandra Uresti; Villareal Elementary: Priscilla Garcia.
The Bell Awards, presented by the Top 10 students of the Los Fresnos High School Class of 2015, spotlighted a special person that those students chose who impacted their education or their lives. Also presenting Bell awards were students in the Special Education, Career and Technology and ESL programs.
Manual Trades and Paraprofessional Employees of the Year for each campus/office were also recognized.
