Teachers Recognized

Six Los Fresnos CISD teachers were recognized for earning advanced degrees at a Special Called Meeting of the the Board of Trustees Monday.
Five of the teachers were present at the meeting. They were:
- Angela L. Dunkin (right), Laureles Elementary School, M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
- Maribel G. Juarez (second from left), Los Fresnos Elementary School, M. Ed. in Special Education, The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley
- Elaine A. Rodriguez (left), Los Fresnos Elementary School, M.Ed. in Curriculum/Instruction and Assessment, Walden University.
- Elsa B. Luna (second from right), Palmer-Laakso Elementary, M.Ed. in Teacher Leadership, Lamar University
- Ana M. Guajardo (center), Liberty Memorial Middle School, M.Ed. in Education in Special Education, The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
- Jose de Jesus Pesina (absent), Los Fresnos High School, M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
One teacher – Erendira Moreno, English Teacher at Resaca Middle School – was approved by the board as a new hire.
A Public Hearing was held to discuss the 2015-16 Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR). Trustees were also presented the Auditor’s Report and annual financial statements for the fiscal year ending Aug. 31, 2016.
