Leo Aguilar Foundation 5K Walk/Run set Oct. 14th

Several hundred students and adults are once again expected to participate in the 5th Annual Leo Aguilar Foundation and Los Fresnos CISD 5K Walk/Run for Fun Saturday, Oct. 14, at Leo Aguilar Stadium.
Proceeds from the race will go to the Leo Aguilar General Scholarship Fund, which has awarded scholarships to Los Fresnos High School graduates for many years.
The race begins at 8 a.m. by the south entrance to the stadium. Early registration is encouraged; late onsite registration begins at 7 a.m.
Entry fee is $15 for adults and $5 for students. The first 100 paid entries will receive a free event t-shirt.Awards will be presented to the top overall male and female participant, as well as the top three finishers in 11 age categories, including age to 80 years and higher. Other age group categories include 6-10, 11-14, 15-18, 19-25, 26-30, 31-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70-79.
The 3.1-mile walk/run begins at Leo Aguilar Stadium and continues east down Texas Highway 100. For a stretch of 1.2 miles during the event, the four-lane highway is reduced to two lanes. The westbound lanes are closed as walkers and runners go east to St. Cecilia’s Church, where they will turn around and head west back to the stadium.
The school with the most participants will receive the traveling trophy.
