Frutti Rollo Cake Shop Celebrates Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting

by Victor Moreno/LFN

It’s been the culmination of hard work, determination and a vision for the Castorena family as they celebrated the grand opening of Frutti Rollo Cake Shop.

The Castorenas, joined by Mayor Polo Narvaez and the Los Fresnos Chamber of Commerce, performed a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.

Imelda Castorena, wife of Fransisco Castorena, has been baking goods for bakeries since 1985. Married in 1990, Imelda continued working for bakeries until she retired recently, though her love of making cakes and “rollos” or cake rolls kept calling.

Spurred by her husband Imelda timidly accepted the vision of her owning and operating her very own cake shop.

“I have a little savings,”said Fransisco and after inquiring about suite #4 which was available at Arroyo Plaza located at 315 N. Arroyo Blvd. the dream was on its way to reality.

“During a family dinner our children came up with the business name and later designed the logo,” said Fransisco.

Frutti Rollo is now open and the family thanks the City of Los Fresnos, Los Fresnos Chamber of Commerce and the Los Fresnos community for the opportunity to serve them.

Frutti Rollo offers rollos (cake rolls with fruit filling), pasteles (cakes), empanadas (danish), quequitos (cupcakes), and chocoflan (chocolate flan) and are open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and can be reached at (956)408-8290.
