The summer program at the Ethel L. Whipple Memorial Library has come to an end for this year.
Library personnel said they are looking forward to next year after the success it generated.
More than 300 families participated in the month long program which this time included not just reading but getting ahead when it comes to getting points at the school.
Angie Lugo, the library director, said they did not expect such a big turnout.
“It was a huge success,’’ she said. “This was our second year and we will have it again in 2019.”
The summer program was held during the month of July, she said.
“We had the students reading and logging the titles of the materials they read,” she said. “They will take the information to school where they will earn points.”
