NJROTC Qualifies for State for 16th Straight Year

The Los Fresnos High School Navy Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps qualified to the Navy JROTC Area 10 Texas State Championship Drill Meet for the 16th consecutive year.

The Navy JROTC Area 10 State Championship Field Meet will be hosted by the Commanding Officer Texas A&M University Corps of Cadets in College Station Feb. 22-23. Fifty students will compete to represent LFHS.

The Falcon Company cadets endured many hours of training, practice and travel with one goal in mind – qualifying for state for the 16th straight year. The qualifying process began in September at a very fast pace and with many new team members.

Various drill meets attracted over 30+ JROTC units from all the military branches – Army, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy, and U.S. Air Force. The team endured long trips and countless hours on the road competing in Houston, San Antonio and Corpus Christi.

The cadets honed their competitive edge and maintained their prowess by never giving up. The Los Fresnos Navy JROTC Instructors Major David Arjona & Chief Carlos Marquez.

Los Fresnos will be competing to place at State and advance to the 2019 Navy JROTC Nationals which will be held at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Fla. April 5-6.
