Each January is the time to recognize the roles all board of trustees play in all Texas school districts.
And here in Los Fresnos, its seven board members were showered with poems and small tokens of appreciation by students from each of the school district’s 14 campuses.
The event was held to recognize the board during its first meeting of 2019, which took place on Monday, Jan. 14.
The students, some of whom recited poems memorized word by word, stood either in pairs or alone in front of the board.
Among the gifts the board members received included a book titled The Seed, a trophy with three stars and a colorful croton plant.
Leonel Garza, the board’s president, said January is the month to acknowledge the contribution board members do for the district.
