LFHS Commencement: What You Need to Know

Location: Leo Aguilar Memorial Stadium

The Los Fresnos High School Class of 2019 will be the largest ever with more than 900 students. Leo Aguilar Memorial Stadium is expected to be filled to its 9,000-seat capacity.

Families and friends are encouraged to make plans to attend accordingly.

Arrive early, pack lightly
Gates will open at 6 p.m. There are entrances on the north and south sides of the stadium.

Extra security precautions will be taken. All bags and purses are subject to check by Los Fresnos CISD Police. Large backpacks are discouraged.

Student check-in
Students should check in at the stadium’s north side entrance by 6:30 p.m. Students will be lined up along the track on the home and visitors’s side on the stadium’s north side.

Students will know which side of the stadium they will be seated during a stadium rehearsal at 9 a.m. on the morning of the ceremony.

Students are encouraged to let their families and friends know their side after the rehearsal.

Parking
Parking is limited on the south end of the stadium, but plenty of parking is available on the north side. Parents and other guests are encouraged to use free bus transportation starting at 6:30 p.m. Buses will return to their sites after the ceremony. Bus transportation is available at two remote sites:

Los Fresnos High School south parking lot, 907 N. Arroyo Blvd.

Los Fresnos United, 33790 FM 803

Security and Traffic Control
The Los Fresnos Police Department will assist Los Fresnos CISD Police for security and traffic control.

When the parking areas south of the stadium are filled to capacity, police at the two stadium entrances on Texas Highway 100 and FM 1575 will direct all traffic to the north parking lots which can be accessed from Whipple Road. The south parking lots are expected to be completely full as early as 6:15 p.m.

Individuals parking on Highway 100 or FM 1575 are urged to use extra safety precautions. Police will be monitoring those areas for the safety of pedestrians.

Inclement Weather Plan
If inclement weather threatens the Saturday evening ceremony, the following plan will be put in place:

If the Saturday ceremony is postponed, it will be rescheduled at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 26 at Leo Aguilar Memorial Stadium.

If inclement weather threatens the Sunday ceremony outdoors, Commencement would be moved indoors to the Los Fresnos United Dome Sunday afternoon. Two ceremonies would be held:

Students whose last names begin with A-K: 1:30 p.m. Sunday

Students whose last names begin with L-Z: 6 p.m. Sunday

Watch Commencement Live!
A live video and audio stream of the ceremony will be available on the district’s YouTube channel on a link that will be provided on this story before the ceremony. The livestream will begin at 7 p.m. The video stream will be available for viewing on YouTube after the ceremony.
