Los Fresnos Scouts’ Summer Action
- Updated: August 30, 2019
by Ada Y. Trevino
Los Fresnos scouts Troop 61 and Troop 161 had quite a summer busy earning merit badges and participating in community events.
Scouts not only attended local Camp Perry in Rio Hondo, but also traveled up to Talihina, Oklahoma attending Camp Tom Hale at the Indian Nations Council.
Some scouts hiked an average of 11 miles daily, fished, climbed a 42ft tower and rappelled back.
Others skied, animated, took citizenship in the community, nation and world and much more.
In between these camps the Scouts conducted the flag presentation on July 3rd for the Los Fresnos Independence Day Celebration and ran a dart booth for the community to enjoy.
On July 4th they participated with the Flag presentation at Indian Lake as well.
On August 10th, scouts Elias Aguilar, Ivan Badillo and Carlos Gomez became new Ordeal members of the Order of the Arrow.
Carlos A. Rodriguez tested and earned the Brotherhood membership in the Order of the Arrow.
Adult Leader, Alida Treviño also became one of our new Ordeal members of the Order of the Arrow.
This Scouting program is youth led and adult guided.
Meetings are every Monday evening at 7:30PM at Los Fresnos Church of Christ.
