LFE Conjunto Wins Christmas Parade Float Award

Los Fresnos Elementary School’s Conjunto provided the best entertainment and took first place in the Float Division of the Los Fresnos Christmas Parade Dec. 7.
Community entries Wet Paws and Cameron County Court-at-Law Judge Estela Chavez Vasquez took second and third, respectively.
The LFE Conjunto, which was formed two months ago, was the big hit at the parade line-up area and on the parade route.
The group, sponsored by music teacher Santiago Castillo, is made up of 12 students in third, fourth and fifth grades. The group includes three singers, four guitarists, two accordion players, one bongo player, one playing sleigh bells and one drummer while 13 other students accompany them with maracas.
