LFHS Mariachi Receives Near Perfect Scores

Mariachi Nuévo Halcón received the highest rating at the Texas Association of Mariachi Educators (TAME) Area South Competition Dec. 14 at Valley View High School.
LFHS received a Division 1 Rating and has qualified again for the TAME State Competition, where they will seek to re-gain the state championship from 2017.
Two of three judges rated LFHS with a perfect score of 1,000 while the third judge ranked LFHS with a score of 995.
The state TAME competition for Class 5A and Class 6A schools will be held on February 8, 2020 in Seguin, Texas. Mariachi groups advance to the state contest by receiving a Division 1 rating at their designated area contests.
The UIL State Mariachi Festival will be held Feb. 21-22 at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Edinburg campus.
