NJROTC Reaches Area for 18th Straight Year

by Ronnie Zamora/LFCISD

The Los Fresnos High School Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) has qualified to the Area Ten State Finals for the 18th consecutive year.

The Falcon Company, along with the Varsity Travel Team, endured many hours of practicing, training, and traveling with one goal in mind – to qualify for state.

The process began in September at a very fast pace and with many new team members. The cadets have remained consistent in their competitive edge and worked very hard to maintain our winning streak. Various drill meets attracted more than 30 JROTC units from throughout the state in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Corpus Christi.

The NJROTC Area 10 State Championship Field Meet will be hosted by Texas A&M University Feb. 27-29. Competition starts with physical fitness and academics Feb. 28. Color Guard, Armed Drill, and Unarmed Drill events will be held on Feb. 29.

The Falcon Varsity Travel Team will be competing at State Finals in the hopes to advance to the 2020 Navy JROTC Nationals, held at the Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola, Florida on April 2-4.
