The Rio Grande Valley Coaches Association recently released the roster for its 2020 All-Star senior football team and the Los Fresnos Falcons were well represented, landing six members on the East Valley squad.
Wide receiver Nico Valencia made the offensive list, while DL Genaro Alvarez, OLB Diego Garza, DL Adal Rodriguez, DB Aidel Vega and DL Leeroy Guerrero led the way on defense.
The 2019 Falcons finished 3-8 overall and 2-3 in district play, losing to Weslaco in the opening round of the playoffs.
The team got off to an uncharacteristic slow start, losing all of its five non-district games. The teams they played, however, were extremely strong and included El Paso Montwood, Austin LBJ, Edcouch-Elsa, Edinburg Vela and Odessa Permian.
This upcoming season, provided everything goes on as scheduled, the Falcons are in a now-expanded District 32-6A, and are at Edcouch-Elsa, at Gregory-Portland and host Calallen in non-district play on Sept. 11.
