Three crosses and a cluster of teddy bears and other toys are on display in a yard just north of St. Francis Avenue west of Los Fresnos.
The ornaments were placed in memory of Port Isabel children and their grandmother who were killed in a two-vehicle accident that happened on Wednesday, Sept. 2.
St. Francis Avenue is a street off FM 803, a narrow road south of Texas Highway 186.
According to reports, killed in the accident were Maria Guadalupe Zamora, 48, and Reynaldo Alvarado, 6, and two year old Ariel Castillo.
A fourth passenger, Ziza Zamora, was injured in the accident. She is a 2020 graduate from Port Isabel High School where a fundraising was scheduled to take place.
Maria Guadalupe was traveling south on FM 803 when another vehicle hit her car head on.
The reports add a tire of a Black Yukon blew out. Its driver lost control and the vehicle veered off toward Zamora’s oncoming car.
Francisco Medina, who lives less than a stone-throw from the accident site, said that several accidents have happened in the last 10 years along FM 803.
The accident was still under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
