Award Celebrates High Schools Promoting High Standards for Student Achievement, Doing Exceptional Work in College and Career Readiness
NEW YORK — Students, educators, administrators, parents, community leaders and College Board representatives will gather at 9 a.m. CDT Tuesday, May 14, at Los Fresnos High School in Los Fresnos, Texas for a celebratory event as the school is presented with a 2013 Gaston Caperton Inspiration Award from the College Board — and a check for $25,000 — for being one of the three most inspiring high schools in America.
Created in 2001 by former College Board President Gaston Caperton, the Inspiration Awards honor high schools that help expand access to higher education by providing students with rigorous academic offerings and innovative college-preparation programs. Selected by a panel of higher education faculty from across the country, winning high schools demonstrate significant and consistent growth in the number of students taking honors and college-level courses and in the percentage of seniors accepted to two- or four-year colleges.
EVENT: Presentation of Gaston Caperton Inspiration Award to Los Fresnos High School
DATE/TIME: Tuesday, May 14, 9–10 a.m.
LOCATION: Los Fresnos High School Auditorium, 907 N. Arroyo Blvd. Los Fresnos, Texas 78566
