Los Fresnos NJROTC Awards

On Friday, May 13th, the Los Fresnos NJROTC program hosted its annual Change of Command/Award Ceremony. The event was well attended by school officials and over 200 family and friends supporting their cadets. Local veteran groups provided over 46 organizational awards to well-deserving cadets, who were recognized for their leadership and citizenship qualities. Additionally, over 100 unit awards were presented to cadets for their performance, within the unit, during the school year. Some of the top awards included:
Distinguished Unit w/ Academic Honors (19th consecutive year)
Cadet of the Year: Isabel Bautista
Best Unarmed Team Commander in the State: Emily Godoy
Catholic War Veteran’s $1000 Scholarship: Mark Maldonado
A formal change of command was also held that evening with the following cadets being promoted to their new leadership positions.

Operations Officer: Tristan Gonzalez
Administration Officer: Vanessa Ortiz
Weapons Officer: Juan Cavazos
Command Master Chief: Jonathan Antonio
