Board Approves Two New Teachers

Trustees approved two new teaching positions. They include:
- Patricia Hernandez, Los Fresnos United
- Melissa Espindola, Los Cuates Middle School
Trustees also approved the Professional Hiring Schedule for 2013-14 school year subject to funding availability. The salary for first-year teachers increased from $40,000 to $41,000 and salaries for teaching levels were adjusted to keep Los Fresnos CISD competitive with neighboring districts.
In other Action Items, trustees:
- accepted the application APEX Wind Energy Holdings, LLC for an an Appraised Value Limitation on Qualified Property, and authorized the Superintendent to review the application for completeness, and to submit to the Texas State Comptroller.
- endorsed trustee Jesus Amaya to fill a position on the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Board of Directors.
In the Consent Agenda, trustees:
- approved minutes for meetings held on June 4, June 10 and June 13, 2013.
- Approved Budget Amendment #16 for Fiscal Year 2012-13.
- Renewed agreements with Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Risk Management Fund for Workers Compensation and Unemployment Insurance for the 2013-14 school year.
- Approved agreements/contracts with Independent Contractors for Professional Services for the 2013-14 school year: Autism-Behavioral Specialist and Licensed Specialist in School Psychology.
- Approved out-of-town travel for trustees to attend the TASA/TASB Convention in Dallas Sept. 27-29.
