UT-PanAm Professor Presents Study About Los Fresnos CISD
- Updated: August 2, 2013

Dr. Miguel de los Santos
Dr. Miguel de los Santos, Professor at The University of Texas-Pan American in the Doctoral Program in Educational Administration, presented a summary of an informal study conducted by UTPA students about the Los Fresnos CISD.
The study was performed by students in De los Santos’ Educational Leadership “Organizational Theory in Education” class as an assignment.
“They chose to study a live organization, rather than me lecturing to them,” de los Santos said. “They chose Los Fresnos CISD because this district has been very successful year after year.”
The report stated that “An informal review of the student achievement on state assessments for school districts in the Region I Education Service Center revelaed that the Los Fresnos CISD has a long history of sustained student achievement.
Student performance on state assessments has consistently surpassed state and regional averages in all subject areas for a number of years.
“Thus, the district has forged a reputation for being a leader in academic performance among all school districts in the Rio Grande Valley.”
