Golf Tournament to Help Local Youth

By Mike Villarreal

The City of Brownsville is delighted to announce the upcoming 2nd One City Youth Scholarship Golf Tournament, an exciting event dedicated to supporting our youth—who represent the future of our community. We invite everyone to join them in this enriching experience as we come together to show our strength and support as one city!

This tournament promises a morning filled with friendly competition, camaraderie, and the shared goal of fostering a brighter future for our young people. All proceeds from this event will be directly allocated to the city’s youth scholarship program, ensuring that 100% of the funds raised will provide necessary resources to those who need it most.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, February 1, 2025! The tournament will take place at the Brownsville Golf Center, located at 1800 W. San Marcelo Blvd, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants of all skill levels are encouraged to come out and enjoy a day of golf while contributing to an important cause.

The youth scholarship program is specifically designed to assist children and teens aged 3 to 18 who are eager to participate in various recreational activities but may encounter financial barriers. By participating in this tournament, you are offering a helping hand and opening doors for these young individuals. The funds generated will directly support their enrollment in sports, arts, and other enriching programs, giving them the chance to thrive and grow.

Let’s collaborate to make a significant and lasting impact on the youth in our community. With your participation and generosity, we can empower them to reach their full potential and help them build brighter futures. So, gather your friends, dust off your golf clubs, and get ready for a fantastic day on the greens!

Remember, every contribution, no matter the size, counts and plays a crucial role in transforming the lives of the young people in our city. Their first event, held in May 2024, was a tremendous success thanks to our community’s support, and we look forward to making this year’s tournament even more remarkable!
