- Updated: October 4, 2013
Immediately after the Los Fresnos Chamber Area Chamber of Commerce general meeting on September 24, which was held inside the Luis Romero Annex building conference room, a large crowd gathered to witness the ribbon cutting of the new County Annex building. A beautiful feat of architecture which houses the offices of the County Tax Assessor-Collector, Justice of the Peace, Department of Public Safety, and the County Constable’s Office. Cameron County Judge Carlos H. Cascos presided over the event as Master of Ceremonies and shared some enlightening and fun thoughts with the crowd. The Los Fresnos Falcon Mariachi Band was also on hand to provide some musical atmosphere to kick off the event. Msgr. Pedro Briseño from St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church gave the invocation for the ceremony followed by some project acknowledgements by Cameron County Commissioner David A. Garza and a few comments by City Councilman Javier Mendez. The $2 million project was approved by the Cameron County Commissioners Court. Construction had been awarded to W. Murray Thompson Construction Co. of San Benito and the plans were designed by Stanford Knowles – K+ Architects, Inc. of Los Fresnos, both of which were on hand at the ceremony. The Facility is located at 745 W. Ocean Blvd. Special thanks were given to the Cameron County Commissioner’s Court, Cameron County Public Works, Stanford Knowles, K+ Architects, Inc., W. Murray Thompson Construction, Texas Department of Transportation, City of Los Fresnos, Los Fresnos Chamber of Commerce, the Family of Judge Luis Romero and Mari S. Galvan.
