Report Shows that 100 Percent of Teachers Meet “Highly Qualified” Standards

Trustees received a report from administrators that showed that 100 percent of Los Fresnos CISD Teachers are Highly Qualified to teach core academic subjects.
The federal government’s No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001 requires that school districts publicly report the annual progress of the and each campus served in meeting the state’s measurable highly qualified teacher objectives.
The state of Texas targets all school districts to reach the 100 percent level for “Highly Qualified” teachers, who must have full certification, a bachelor’s degree, and demonstrated competence in subject knowledge and teaching.
Los Fresnos CISD achieved the 100 percent “Highly Qualified” status for the sixth year in a row.Trustees also received the following District Reports:

  • Portfolio Report
  • Tax Collection Report
  • Summary Revenue and Expenditure Status Reports
  • Monthly Disbursements
  • Budget Adjustments
  • Annual Investment Report for Fiscal Year 2012

Board Ratifies Agreements/Contracts for Employee Assistance Program

The Los Fresnos CISD Interface Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which provides numerous services to district employees, was ratified by trustees for the 2013-14 school year.

EAP provides free counseling services, legal services, financial services, and work/life and wellness resources.

Some resources designed to help employees and family members include dealing with life challenges such as family conflict, grief, changes at home, work or school; personal growth, and dependence or codependency issues.

EAP is a completely free and confidential source of assistance.

EAP services are available to employees, spouses and eligible dependents.
