LFU Holds Mid-Year Parent Sessions on Report Card Day
- Updated: February 7, 2014
About 110 parents of students at Los Fresnos United Ninth Grade campus attended sessions on campus as a mid-year academic report and to receive report cards for the second marking period.
Report cards are issued at the end of each of the four marking periods, which are about nine weeks each.
Three sessions were held and were presented in English and Spanish.
Principal Jennifer Stumbaugh reminded parents that progress reports are sent home with students every three weeks. Upcoming progress reports for the third marking period will be sent home Jan. 29 and Feb. 19 before report cards for the third marking period on March 19.
For the fourth marking period, progress reports will be sent home with students April 9, April 30 and May 21, and report cards will be sent home on the last day of classes June 3.
“We talked about the importance of tutoring,” Stumbaugh said. “We want to help parents to understand the requirements that their children have to meet to become a sophomore next year. We also want to make them aware of the interventions and tutoring available to make sure they are successful.”
Stumbaugh also addressed requirements for promotion to Los Fresnos High School, reading credits, attendance, tutoring, End-of-Course (EOC) testing dates and Saturday Academy.
She also asked parents to sign up for the school’s text messaging system Remind 101, so that they could receive text messages about important events at LFU.
Parents who were unable to attend may contact the campus for more information.
