LOPEZ-RIGGINS ELEMENTARY GETS VISIT FROM INDY RACE CAR
- Updated: October 16, 2014
Students at Lopez-Riggins Elementary got a rare treat Tuesday with the visit of an Indy Race car to their campus.
Ray Garcia, whose wife works at the school, works for ABC Supply Co., which houses the vehicle when not racing. He arranged for the vehicle’s visit, together with Pete Garcia, who spoke to the students in two presentations.
The car, which is driven by Takuma Sato of A.J. Foyt Enterprises, is taken for shows around the country. It is valued at $3 million.
“It is a very fast car and can go 235 miles per hour,” Pete Garcia told the students, drawing a chorus of oohs.
“The wings push it far down and hold it down. Without those wings, the car would want to lift up like a plane. The car will cross 100 yards in less than one second.”
