LFHS, LFU Students Observe Anti-Bullying Week
- Updated: February 24, 2015
Los Fresnos CISD observed Anti-Bullying Week with activities at several schools throughout the district.
At Los Fresnos High School, posters about Anti-Bullying Week stated: High School is Hard Enough: Stop the Bullying.
The weekly activities included:
Monday: Bullying Awareness Ribbon
Tuesday: Acts of Kindness
Wednesday: Anti-Bullying Video
Thursday: Take A Stand
Friday: Blue Out Bullying (Wear Blue)
At Thursday’s Take A Stand activity, about 20 students performed two silent skits with posters of single words that symbolize bullying, such as Skinny, Weird, Worthless, Güero, Insane, Annoying, Toothpick, Lame and Loser. The two skits were held during during the two lunch periods.
Students spelled out the words “Take A Stand” as another took the Bullying poster and tore it into small pieces.
At Los Fresnos United, motivational speaker Jonathan Medina from Rio Hondo addressed the entire student body in the gymnasium. Medina, who has delivered hundreds of motivational speeches, addressed his experiences about bullying and spoke about how bullying influences lives.
LFHS cheerleaders also performed, and there were tug of war games involving students, teachers, and the cheerleaders.
LFU students were allowed to dress up to the theme of each day:
Monday: Falcon Spirit – Falcon’s Don’t Bully
Tuesday: Twins Day – Team Up Against Bullies
Wednesday: Boot Day – Give Bullies the Boot
Thursday: Black Out Bullying
Friday: Super Heroes Day – Help Save Bullying Victims
