LFU, LCMS DESTINATION IMAGINATION Teams Qualify for State

Destination Imagination teams from Los Fresnos United and Los Cuates Middle School finished on top of their divisions at the South Border Bridge Regionals in Pharr Saturday.
Both teams of students qualify for the Texas Destination Imagination State Tournament April 10-11 in Dallas.
More than 180 teams from the Rio Grande Valley competed in the regionals held at PSJA North High School.
Both LFU and LCMS competed in Challenge A “Creature Feature,” which is the Technical Challenge, in the middle school and high school divisions.
LFU team members included Juliana Guardado, Samantha Gonzalez, Caroline Jimenez-Reyes, Luis Ramirez and Henry Garza.
LCMS team members included Zoe Arriaga, Katherine Castro, Niomi Gamez, Isamar Pineda, Adathamy Villarreal and Caitlin Cavazos.
Sponsors were Daniel Cranick at LFU and Kristina Cranick at LCMS.
A Los Fresnos Elementary team finished third in the elementary school division.
Destination Imagination’s purpose is to inspire and equip students to become the next generation of innovators and leaders.
DI also offers seven standards-based Challenges in STEM, Improv, Visual Arts, Service Learning, and Early Learning. Each Challenge is open-ended and enables student teams to learn and experience the creative process from imagination to innovation.
The winners at the state tournament advance to the Destination Imagination Global Finals in May 20-23 in Knoxville, Tenn.
