The City of Los Fresnos’ Outreach Program
- Updated: July 24, 2015
The Outreach Program by the City of Los Fresnos offers a verity of free exercise classes, nutrition support, blood pressure screenings, BMI screenings and a follow-up care to both men and women 18 and older.
Classes are taught throughout the week at the Los Fresnos Memorial Park located at 900 N. Arroyo, Los Fresnos, TX 78566. The summer exercise schedule offers Aqua Aerobics, Cardio Kickboxing, Body Sculpting, Cardio and Circuits and a Fitness Blender. All classes are taught by Certified Fitness Instructors.
Upon registering for the program each participant receives a free blood pressure and BMI screening. If the participant is found to have a normal Blood Pressure reading and a normal BMI, the participant is then encouraged to participate in the program to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.
If the participant is found to have an abnormal blood pressure reading or BMI and has not been diagnosed with high blood pressure then the participant is eligible for a follow-up. Participants eligible for a follow-up will meet with the Community Health Worker to create a personalized care plan and will be rescreened by the Community Health Worker to monitor participant’s progress. The plan will include both a physical activity and a nutrition goal to help the participant improve both Blood Pressure and BMI. The follow-up care plan will also include helping the participant identify and set personal goals. The participant will be scheduled to meet with the Community Health Worker as recommended by the Community Health Worker depending on the individuals results of screening.
Participants have the right to refuse follow-ups, without affecting participant’s eligibility to participate in classes.
Once enrolled in the program participants are able to participate in all classes at no charge as offered to the Community by the City of Los Fresnos.
The summer schedule offers 14 classes to choose from!
