LFHS Students, Community Celebrate Fields of Faith Service
- Updated: October 23, 2015
More than 100 students and community members gathered at Leo Aguilar Memorial Stadium for the Ninth Annual Fields of Faith service on Wednesday evening, October 14th.
The Los Fresnos High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes sponsored the event, which has drawn people from all religious denominations to the service. The LFHS Huddle group was joined by a new chapter recently formed at Port Isabel High School.
The Tyler Murphy Band, which has performed for several years at the LFHS Fields of Faith, provided music for the service.
LFHS student speakers were Natalia de Leon, Marinthia Hernandez, Kelsi McDonough, and Roque Villafranca. Each spoke about how their faith has impacted their lives.
Students discussed the emotions experienced by high school students by showing hand-made signs, and how their beliefs changed those emotions. They broke into small prayer groups to end the service.
“Fields of Faith has come a long way, and our students always do a great job of running it,” said FCA Sponsor and teacher Doug Dahlberg. “The first one was on the pitcher’s mound at the high school baseball field, so it’s grown quite a bit.”
